Excitement about college starts early

This week is one of the greatest weeks to work at San Diego State!  No, I’m not only talking about commencement, which is a time of immense excitement on campus.  This week is special because it is when we get to present the awards to the community’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who participated in our Explore SDSU Poster Contest!

Earlier this week, Jerry, Melissa and I were at Henry Clay Elementary to present SDSU sweatshirts, t-shirts and other knick-knacks to six extremely bright and talented students.  Each one had drawn a poster that artistically illustrated the value of attending a quality institute of higher learning such as SDSU.  Each one depicted him or herself as excelling in life and realizing a dream due to the benefits of higher education.  Who wouldn’t want my job of being able to recognize and elevate these young people for such a wonderful and imaginative accomplishment?
Plus, as their faces will attest in the photo below, we had fun!
