As you probably know by now, SDSU Admissions is big on technology and even bigger on creating relationships with prospective students. We’re all about utilizing the Web, social media, and other innovative tools. These help us to not only reach more students, but to create and foster more personal one-on-one interactions and relationships. SDSU’s participation in the College Week Live online college fair this week put these tactics to good use.
Twice a year, SDSU participates in the virtual fair, which makes all the resources offered at an on-site college fair available to students anywhere. The event brings in prospective students eager to gather information and chat live with SDSU students and admissions counselors. SDSU’s virtual booth was also equipped with links to give students information about student life, athletics and financial aid. All these features were housed in an Aztec red and black booth that created the most realistic virtual fair you could visit.
For three days, admissions counselors and student assistants manned the SDSU online chat forum that allowed prospective students to get real time answers and information about anything at SDSU. Some visitors needed help with the admission application, others wanted to learn about majors and programs and some just hoped to get a feel for life at SDSU.
For prospective students who live out-of-state or simply have no way to visit SDSU in person, the event was an opportunity to connect with the university and access all the resources and materials handed out at traditional college fairs.
If you didn’t get a chance to visit our booth this time around, you can still check us out until early February by signing up with College Week Live – it’s free! Be sure to check us out at the spring online college fair. In the meantime, get connected on Twitter or Facebook, to start interacting with SDSU.
