As part of the CSU’s Super Sunday program, SDSU President Stephen L. Weber wrote a blog entry for the CSU about building relationships with diverse communities. Following is an excerpt from his post.
Under the leadership of the CSU’s Super Sunday initiative, my colleagues and I have been speaking to the
congregations of predominately African American churches throughout California for the past few years. It has been a real pleasure to collaborate with deacons, pastors as well as a Bishop dedicated to the spiritual, social and academic success of young people. I have listened and learned more about the strong commitment communities have to their children’s future. Last year in addition to hosting a dinner for community and church leaders at our house, I had the privilege of speaking before several services at three local churches, and was proud to see the number of supportive CSU Alumni in pews.
