new themes boost social media interaction

SDSU prides itself on being on top of the ever-changing social media landscape.  Within the last couple of years social media has opened countless portals to create personal relationships with current and prospective students. Through mediums like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the SDSU blog, the university can reach more students on a one-to-one level than ever before.

Last week, SDSU Admissions began a new series of posts on its social media outlets. Themed days incorporate Facebook, Twitter, and WordPress to enhance discussion, interaction, and enjoyment. Here is the lineup:

Money Mondays: Each Monday one new scholarship, such as Castle Ink’s Green Scholarship or one of the many SDSU scholarships, will be posted. These awards are a great way to showcase your accomplishments and earn money for college. Don’t wait to get to SDSU to start applying, most awards are available to new and current students.

Money Mondays

Twitter Tuesdays: Each Tuesday Admissions will tweet trivia, ask for TwitPics, or post TwitVids. These complement daily Twitter postings and are designed to encourage you to get involved. Tweet a reply with your SDSU pics, videos, or fun facts and start sharing why it’s great to be an Aztec.

WordPress Wednesday: If you’re reading this post, you’re that much closer to making WordPress Wednesdays a success! Check out all the SDSU blog posts and leave a comment with your thoughts.

Third Degree Thursday: Third degree Thursdays are all about questions. Posts will ask about SDSU news, fun facts, and what you’re doing. How many students graduated from SDSU last year? What’s the best thing about the campus? Do you have any special plans before school starts? –these are just some of the questions we’ll be asking you.

Twitter Tuesdays

SDSU will be adding days, running contests, and improving themed posts throughout summer and fall so stay connected on the Admissions profiles. Social media at San Diego State is about more than updates; it’s a great opportunity to start discussions, connect with other students, and get talking about anything SDSU.
