One down, five to go …

What a day. On the road at 5 am, in the McKale Center by 11 am. We watched our next oppenent, Temple, beat Penn State in the first game, which included a relatively quiet crowd. By the time the SDSU v Northern Colorado game started, it was clearly an Aztec dominated crowd, save for those neutral fans cheering for the underdog. That, by the way, struck me as a pretty amazing by product of this whole thing. This is the first time we’ve been the higher seed. And as such, people were cheering against us, because they wanted to see the Cinderella story.

Well, the first half was close, not the best basketball the team has played this season. But great defense and determination brought San Diego State it’s first NCAA Tournament victory in school history. And now, with that monkey off our back, it’s on to the next one, and  the next one, and the next one, and the one after that, and the one after that.

A great experience so far. Can’t wait for Saturday.
